Casablanca

This song is maybe not one of my top ten favourites. But the lyrichs are partly very close to what actually happened to me many years ago... Nostalgia!

Melbourne 28/03/10

Earlier this morning I watched the F1-race in Melbourne, Australia, LIVE. Since I don´t have access to Viasat Motor, I had to watch the race on my computer.
I couldn´t see live pictures though. However, all computers in the cars were kind enough to send live information to my computer throughout the race. All the way from Australia by less than a split second! I´m amazed...
My wife who watched me looking at figures and comments more or less for nearly two hours, thinks I´m nuts...
And the final result? Jenson took his first win in the new McLaren-Mercedes.
I´m not surprised...

DINK

I learned something new about economy today.
DINK is occasionally used (in the UK, India, and China) to describe a high-earning couple who choose not to have children and are therefore able to afford a more expensive consumer lifestyle than those with families.
(DINK = Dual Income, No Kids)

I just wonder what word they use for a single person in the same situation.
SINK...?

Melody Gardot

Some people gives me goose pimples. With Melody´s background and only 25 years of age, she´s simply amazing!

Melody Gardot (born February 2, 1985 in New Jersey) is an American jazz singer, writer and musician in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Gardot graduated from Lenape High School of Medford, New Jersey in 2003. Her interest of music had grown with the help of her former music teacher at Lenape, Mr. Thomas Traub.
After high school, she attended college in Philidelphia, PA where she had originally majored in fashion and designing. She has been influenced by such blues and jazz artists as Judy Garland, Janis Joplin, Miles Davis, Duke Ellington and George Gershwin as well as Latin music artists such as Stan Getz and Caetano Veloso.

While cycling in Philadelphia in November 2003 she was hit by a Jeep Cherokee whose driver had ignored a red traffic light.

In the accident she suffered serious head and spinal injuries and her pelvis was shattered in two places. Because of these severe injuries she was confined to her hospital bed for a year and had to remain lying on her back. As a further consequence of her injuries she had to re-learn simple tasks such as brushing her teeth and walking. The most noticeable effect of the neural injuries she suffered is that she was left hyper-sensitive to both light and sound, therefore requiring her to wear dark sunglasses at nearly all times to shield her eyes. The accident also resulted in both long and short term memory problems and difficulty with her sense of time. Gardot has described coping with this as like "climbing Mount Everest every day" as she often wakes with no memory of what she has to do that day.

New seasons

Certain happenings are known to aknowledge others.
This weekend the Formula 1 season starts i Bahrain.
In other words, this confirms that spring has arrived, at least in Southern Sweden.
Jenson Button has switched to Mclaren Mercedes since last year. His team mate is now another talanted driver and countryman, Lewis Hamilton.
I wish them both good luck through this season, although my strongest wishes still are for Jenson. I´ve been following his ups and downs for quite a while now...Then in May, it´s time for Monacos Grand Prix. Since 1970, when F1 first caught my attention, this race always has marked the beginning of summertime. In any case it has been, and is that way in my mind...

RUT eller ROT

RÖD- ELLER BLÅRUTIGT

(RIBER / SYDSVENSKAN 2010-03-06)

Let the children play

Click this: Adios amigos!
What´s wrong with people...? The boy´s got talent!
However, he´s got himself a small problem. His dad is now out of work.
No work, no money. No money, no play...

Facebook

Monica. En kollega och vän från längesedan. Närmare bestämt c:a tjugoåtta år sedan...
En av hennes talanger är definitivt rösten. Här tävlar hon i Melodifestivalen 1993, med en 5:e plats som facit (ljudkvalitén är inte den bästa). Eloise med Arvingarna vann.

Sunshine on my shoulders

This song came to my mind when I saw the sun this beautiful morning. Hopefully we will enjoy sunny weather for the next few days.
We need it...

John Denver (1943–1997), born Henry John Deutschendorf, Jr., was an American singer-songwriter, actor, activist and poet. One of the most popular acoustic artists of the 1970s in terms of record sales. Denver recorded and released around 300 songs, of which about 200 were composed by him. He was named Poet Laureate of Colorado in 1977. Songs such as "Leaving on a Jet Plane", "Take Me Home, Country Roads", "Rocky Mountain High", "Sunshine on My Shoulders", "Thank God I'm a Country Boy", "Annie's Song" and "Calypso" attained worldwide popularity. Denver has been referred to as "The Poet for the Planet", "Mother Nature's Son", and "A Song's Best Friend".

On October 12, 1997, Denver was killed when his Experimental Long-EZ plane crashed into the Pacific Ocean near Pacific Grove, California.

A pilot with over 2,700 hours of experience, Denver had single-engine land and sea, multi-engine land, glider, and instrument ratings. He also held a type rating in a Learjet. He had recently purchased the Long-EZ aircraft and had taken a half-hour checkout flight with the aircraft the day before the accident. The NTSB cited Denver's unfamiliarity with the aircraft and his failure to have the aircraft refueled as causal factors in the accident.
